About
Â
For more than 30 years I’ve worked in the Australian road freight industry, helping operators make sense of safety, compliance, and accreditation.
My work focuses on turning complex regulatory requirements into practical systems that actually work in real transport businesses.
NICE TO MEET YOU
I'm Jodie Broadbent
Â
I’ve spent more than three decades working in the Australian transport industry, including time in government, consulting, and industry leadership roles. Over the years I’ve worked alongside operators of every size — from small family fleets to large national businesses.
What I’ve seen again and again is that most operators want to do the right thing, but compliance often feels confusing, overwhelming, or disconnected from the reality of running trucks every day.
That’s where my work begins.
Make compliance understandable
Break down complex regulatory requirements into practical steps operators can actually follow.
Give operators confidence
Help transport businesses know their systems will stand up to audits, investigations, and real-world pressure.
Build systems that work in the real world
Create safety and compliance systems that support operations instead of slowing them down.
For many operators, this is how compliance can feel...
My Story
I’ve spent most of my life connected to the Australian transport industry.
My dad was a truck driver, so I grew up understanding the realities of the job — the long hours, the pressure of deadlines, and the responsibility drivers carry every time they get behind the wheel.
Later in my career I worked inside government, including time with VicRoads, where I saw the industry from a completely different perspective. I gained insight into how the rules are written, how safety expectations are interpreted, and how regulatory systems are designed.
But the trucking industry has never been just my work — it’s also my home.
My husband is a truck driver, so conversations about safety, fatigue, schedules, and the pressures drivers face are part of everyday life in our household. Seeing the industry from both the regulatory side and the driver’s seat through my husband has shaped the way I approach my work.
Over time it became clear to me that there was often a gap between how compliance is written and how transport businesses operate day to day.
Most operators want to do the right thing. They care deeply about safety, their drivers, and the reputation of their businesses. Yet the legislation and systems they are expected to navigate can be complex, technical, and sometimes disconnected from the realities of running a trucking operation.
Throughout my career I’ve worked with operators across the country to bridge that gap, turning complex regulatory requirements into practical systems that work in the real world.
Over time I realised that what operators really need isn’t more paperwork or complicated advice. They need clarity, practical guidance, and systems they can trust. Systems that allow them to run safe, professional businesses without carrying the constant uncertainty that compliance can bring.
That realisation shapes the work I do today.
"Before working with Jodie, our compliance documents existed but didn’t really guide how we operated day to day. She helped us turn them into a practical system the whole team understands and uses."
- Fleet Manager, VIC
"Compliance always felt like something we were trying to keep up with rather than manage properly. Jodie helped us put clear processes in place so we know exactly where we stand."
- Transport Operator, SA
"We always tried to do the right thing but weren’t confident our systems would stand up if something went wrong. Jodie helped us build a framework that actually works in the real world."
- Senior Executive, NSW
Why I Do It
When I was younger, I saw what complex and overbearing regulations could do to transport operators.
Many tried to avoid it, ignore it, or push it aside, not because they didn’t care about safety, but because the rules were difficult to understand. So they focussed on keeping the wheels turning and just hoped for the best.
Throughout my career I’ve tried to simplify the difficult and make sense of what often feels senseless. I work with capable, hardworking people who have been made to feel like they’re failing simply because they’re trying to navigate pages and pages of complex legislation.
The moment they realise they can understand it — that they’re not stupid and that the system can be made clear — is one of the most rewarding parts of the work I do.
This isn’t just a job for me. It’s a mission.
I’ve spent thousands of hours studying the legislation, the standards, and the systems behind transport safety so I can translate them into practical guidance that operators can actually use.
You don’t have to figure it all out alone.
I’m here to help.
